What is the American Board of Endodontics?

It is a certifying board that relates specifically to endodontics. It is recognised by the ADA (American Dental Association) and the AAE (American Association of Endodontists)

The existence of the ABE helps assure the public that those clinicians that are certtified by the ABE are indeed experts in their field.  They have demonstrated extraordinary skill levels in the discipline and continually seek to improve the quality of patient care through education and elevated treatment standards.

How did my Endodontist Dr Bellamy obtain Board Certification?

In order to meet the strict requirements of the ABE Dr Bellamy successfully completed three distinct examinations:

Practice:  Dr Bellamy holds a valid licence to practice endodontics and demonstrated high professional, moral and ethical qualifications,

Education:  Dr Bellamy was certified after completing a postdoctoral study in an ADA approved program and has been identified with endodontics for a minimum of four years.

Examination:  Dr Bellamy passed a written exam that tested a number of subjects, including anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, microbiology, pharmacology, radiology, statistics, clinical endodontics, and related disciplines.

Dr Bellamy submitted documentation of a variety of cases from his/her own practice. The cases were diverse and complex enough to demonstrate exceptional knowledge, skills, and expertise in the full scope of the field of endodontics.

The final phase of the Board certification is an oral exam of three hours duration. In the oral exam, Dr Bellamy was questioned by a panel of experts in the field about a variety of endodontic diagnosis and treatment situations. Throughout the extensive interviews, your endodontist displayed a high level of skill in problem solving and decision- making, analysis, creativity, and evaluation.
